Issue Position: Ensuring Tax Fairness

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2014
Issues: Taxes

The government's money is your money, and together we need to ensure the state makes responsible choices on both taxes and spending. I'm committed to keeping taxes as low as possible, especially for working families, while remaining committed to our world class education system, improving our crumbling infrastructure, and keeping the public safe.

Political extremists that want to make indiscriminate cuts without any thought on how that will affect our quality of life aren't offering a real solution. As your delegate, my goal will be to promote targeted tax cuts directed towards those areas of everyday living that help Maryland families, not corporations, keep more of what they earn and spend it on what matters.

As your delegate, I will:

Fight for extending sales tax holidays on goods related to education, health, and small business development
Advocate for a college tuition tax credit for all working families sending their children to school.
Utilize additional income from out-of-state corporations to provide tax relief for Maryland small business owners.
Expand the earned income tax credit to put more money in hard worker's pockets.
